NEW YORK (AP) -John Terry was given a standing ovation by Chelsea supporters in his first game following his acquittal on charges of racially abusing an opponent during a Premier League match last season.
The Chelsea captain entered in the 63rd minute of Sunday night's preseason friendly against Paris Saint-Germain at new Yankee Stadium.
Six sections of blue-clad Chelsea fans behind the Yankees dugout rose to their feet with extended applause. The banner "JT Captain, Leader, Legend," which usually is seen at London's Stamford Bridge, was hung before the game.
Terry was found not guilty in Westminster Magistrates' Court on July 13 of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand last October.
